Whole Wheat Waffles

Start your day with a wholesome and delicious breakfast by whipping up a batch of my Whole Wheat Waffles! Made with nutrient-rich whole wheat flour, these waffles offer a hearty texture and a subtly nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with your favorite fruit toppings. Whether you're looking for a nutritious way to fuel your morning or a satisfying brunch option, these waffles are a fantastic choice. Easy to prepare and packed with fiber, these Whole Wheat Waffles are sure to become a family favorite for a balanced and delightful start to your day!



Ingredients:

  • 1 flax egg (1 tbsp ground flaxseed & 2 tbsp water)

  • 1 tbsp molasses

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 1/2 tbsp baking powder

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 3/4 cup soy milk

  • 1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour


Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, prepare flax egg by combining flaxseed meal and water and letting it sit for 5 minutes to achieve an "eggy" texture.

  2. Add the molasses, applesauce, oil, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon and whisk together. Add soy milk and stir.

  3. Add flour and whisk gently until just combined.

  4. Once preheated, generously spray the waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray and spoon about 1/2 cup of the batter onto the center of the iron and cook for a few minutes until crispy.
